Motley Fool Alternative for Active Day Traders
4 min read
If you have searched for an affordable alternative to Motley Fool Stock Advisor, it is worth being clear up front that Little Bird Trading is a different product from Stock Advisor. Stock Advisor sells long-term stock recommendations. I publish daily support and resistance levels for 23 index symbols across 20 stock markets. This page explains the difference honestly, so you can decide in about two minutes whether I am what you were looking for.
What Stock Advisor sells
Motley Fool Stock Advisor is a long-term, buy-and-hold stock-picking subscription. You pay annually, it renews annually, and the product is a list of recommendations plus commentary on why. If you want somebody experienced to point at tickers you will hold for years, that is a real service and it does that job.
Many people searching for a cheaper alternative are looking for something else entirely, and picking services are the only thing that shows up.
What I sell
About an hour after each market closes, I publish its next session's support, resistance, and pivot levels: SPY, ES, QQQ, and NQ in the US, plus 19 more stock markets across Asia, Europe and the Americas, from the Nikkei 225 and DAX 40 to the ASX 200 and FTSE 100. These are the index instruments most day traders already trade.
The job the levels do is narrow and specific: you sit down before the open already knowing where the decision points are. You can read the current reports in the Trade Plans hub before you spend anything.
The honest comparison
| Stock Advisor | Little Bird Trading | |
|---|---|---|
| What you get | Stock recommendations | Price levels on 23 index symbols in 20 markets |
| Time horizon | Years | The next session |
| Decides for you | Which companies to own | Nothing. You decide what to do at the levels |
| Billing | Annual | $49.99 per month for all markets, or $9.99 per single market, cancel anytime |
| Free tier | No | Yes, the previous session's levels |
Who should not switch
If you want a hands-off portfolio of long-term holds and you do not plan to look at an intraday chart, a recommendation service fits you better than I do, and no amount of price comparison changes that. I will not be useful to you.
The same goes if you trade individual small-cap names. I cover the index majors and their futures in 20 markets. If none of those indexes are instruments you touch, my levels are not about your market.
Who this is actually for
- Day traders and active swing traders working the index majors.
- People who want the decision points marked before the open.
- Anyone who has grown tired of paying annually for picks they did not act on.
What it costs
The previous session's levels are free, with no card. The next session's levels, delivered about an hour after each market closes, are $49.99 per month for all 20 markets ($41.58 per month billed annually), or $9.99 per month for each single market you pick ($8.25 per month billed annually), and you can cancel from your account at any time. Two one-time guides are sold separately: the Trader Tax Status (TTS) Guide for 2026 and Build Your Own AI Trading System. Neither is required to use the levels.
Full detail is on the pricing page.
Start with the free tier
You do not need to decide today. The free daily email sends you the previous session's levels, plus how price actually traded around them. That last part is the test worth running: read a week of them, and see whether the levels were doing anything useful before you pay for tomorrow's.
FAQ
Is this a stock-picking service like Stock Advisor?
No. I publish price levels on index products. I never tell you what to buy, and there are no recommendations of any kind in the report.
Is it cheaper than Motley Fool Stock Advisor?
That depends on Stock Advisor's current price, which changes and which you should check yourself. Mine is $49.99 per month for all 20 markets, or $9.99 per month for a single market, month to month, with a free tier. I am not going to quote a competitor's number that may be out of date by the time you read this.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. Pro is a monthly subscription with no minimum term, canceled from your account page.
What if I only trade stocks and ETFs?
SPY and QQQ are ETFs you can trade in an ordinary brokerage account. ES and NQ are the futures equivalents. The levels are useful if you trade either form.
Do I need MyLinedChart?
No. The report stands on its own by email. MyLinedChart plots the levels onto your charts automatically if you want that, and it is a separate product.
